The three blades are backing out. Slowly, the way a splinter leaves. You have carried this so long you stopped calling it a wound and started calling it your weather. Look: the heart on the card is turned downward now, and everything it held is draining into the dark where such things go to be composted. Not erased. Composted. Something in the house is awake with you at this hour, and it is not unkind. It has been waiting for you to set the swords down on the table and say, out loud, that it hurt.
